| Hey everyone! When we were planning what to do post-Honuras I, Frances, agreed to submit a journal entry from while we were on the trip. It will be in the TFN or TFW or something!... Abram asked me to post it up here as well.
Sunday, August 21, 2005: Tablones, Honduras
We had our Eucharist service in the afternoon. It was really cool, because the families of all the Honduran teens came up to be with their kids for the service. No one knew they were coming, so it was a fun surprise. Each Honduran stood up and introduced their family- sharing everyone from their sisters to their aunts and grandparents. Then they posed for a photo and I and a few others from our team took their picture.
When the service began, I was nestled in the back of the room between a bunch of Honduran women and little kids. It dawned on me as I was sitting there in the Spanish service, which I didn't really understand, how cool it was to be in Honduras and praising God with other Hondurans. Before, it had been hard for me to worship and attend prayer meetings in Spanish. But it was awesome to see so many people singing happily and praising God. It made me realize how small I was in the world, but not in a bad way. There are thousands of people out there, praising the same God that I praise. | | |
| Hey, its ebeth. Hope you are all recovering at home. Don't you love your own bed and food from your kitchen at home? I do! I had lunch at California Pizza Kitchen with my parents and Don at the airport before we left. - yummy. Don had all of Tuesday off so we stayed at home all day. I've been working on the pictures. Soon I'll have a CD for each of you.
Keep posting and let us all know how you are doing.
peace,

| Ricky Owens today compared our mad dash to the gate, only to see the plan pulling out, to a romantic comedy where the guy finally realizes how much he loves the girl, then drives like crazy and runs through the airport to tell her, only to see her already on the runway pulling away. I thought it was quite appropriate.
We ate some good food tonight (a 24 hour greasy spoon right across from the hotel). The airline is covering the hotel costs, but not dinner. We met a nice Christian man named David who was in the shuttle with us on our way back from the airport to the hotel, and we shared our story with him (he is likewise the father of some mission-minded kids). While we were all checking in, one of the assistants reached over to me and handed me vouchers for the Breakfast Buffet here for all of us (I knew that this cost was NOT included, either by the hotel or the airline), and I looked over and David had bought us all breakfast for tomorrow! I politely tried to say, "You don't have to do that", etc., but he insisted. What a blessing! You see the crazy kind of stuff that happens when you're on an adventure like this?
Today and tonight was hard on the kids, I think. Please keep praying for them. I know it was very frustrating for them to have waited so patiently these last few days to come home, only to be delayed again. Definitely more of a low than we've had in the past several days or so.
You guys are awesome. Please pray, if it's in God's will, we make it home tomorrow.
Peace,
Abram.

another change of plans...thanks Katrina. we finally made it to houston after stopping for gas in San Pedro Sula, HN and then flying a different route to TX. so, here we are at the Hilton Garden Inn in Houston. we have nice rooms - two for the girls, one for the boys and one each for EB and AKJ. we ate dinner across the parking lot....yeah for american food! now we are very tired and we have an early wake up call. oh, there was a guy on the hotel shuttle with us and he listened to our story. as we were all checking into the hotel he insisted on buying our breakfast for tomorrow morning....God provides in fun ways.. so, we don't really have our hopes up for arriving at DCA ontime. we understand that Katrina is chasing us. we almost made the flight to DCA....we watched it pull away after running and cutting security lines. some of us cried at the sight. continental tells us that our bags were on that flight.
by the way, i left my cell phone at the hospital. i had used it to look up a number and left it out.....now its locked up in the doctors office. rene will mail it to me. that will take about 10 days.
i'm sure we will all have a chance to call you from the airport tomorrow.
please pray that we will be patient with each other as we continue with this adventure.
thank you doug for making all the phone calls and helping us from home.
peace,
e.hill
p.s. there was a small internet cafe near our gate in tegucigalpa....they let me have a few mintues for free to get that last post up.
